You have a big goal. You're investing hundreds of hours of your precious time as well as thousands spent on entry fees bikes, flights, technology, nutrition, pool fees, wetsuits and clothing to name just a few.

If you fail to achieve your goal, that's a very costly way to feel disappointed. While I can never promise that we will achieve your goals together, the odds of you finishing will skyrocket when we work together.

SIMON OLNEY

I have been working as a professional triathlon coach since 2016, and racing since 2012. As a British Triathlon High Performing coach, certified nutrition coach and strength coach, I am well placed to help you with more than just writing a training plan

Before working in triathlon I was a lighting designer in the film industry, juggling long hours and incredibly high pressure with my training. Unlike many other coaches, I understand how it feels juggling endurance sport with a full time job.

I have completed all distances of triathlon with a handful of wins to my name. When not training or coaching I can be found volunteering with the local scout group or walking my retired greyhound.

A fully bespoke training plan

 

A training plan is the cornerstone of a coaching programme. We never deliver copy and paste plans, with each plan written on an individual basis. 

As the plan is written on a monthly basis I can adjust the training depending on how the previous month of training has gone. Feeling a bit pedestrian? We can ramp the training up. Lost a week due to illness? We can help you ease back into things. 

We are also more than happy to build a plan around group training sessions. Big fan of the local Thursday night group ride? parkrun addict? Attend a Sunday morning swim squad? These can all be incorporated into your plan.

Your training plan should be as individual as you are, helping you improve without being constantly exhausted or playing catch-up.

While a training plan is of course a valuable component of any triathlete's preparation, the more holistic side of triathlon coaching is where real gains are made.

It doesn't matter how fit you are if your nutrition strategy is poor, your tyre pressures are wrong or you overtrained and ended up in a hole for several weeks. 

Our monthly check ins are a valuable time for you to ask for help with all aspects of your racing and training. We can set new progress goals, help recommend the best kit for you to buy, help you with your diet, or anything else you would like some guidance with.

Nutrition is a confusing and overwhelming subject. Whether you are trying to work out what is the best thing to eat before a long ride, calculating how many grams of sodium you need on race day, or what your daily protein target should be, it can leave your head in a spin.

As a certified nutrition coach I can help you navigate the confusing world of nutrition to ensure you're properly fuelling your workouts, recovering well and maintaining a healthy relationship with food.

 

REDUCE THE RISK OF INJURY

The biggest reason endurance athletes fail to achieve their goals is injury. Someone starts training getting faster, running longer and seeing improvements until an injury derails all their progress. 

By combining a gradual, sustainable increase in volume with a strength programme built around you, we can massively reduce the chance of injury. 

It would be foolhardy of me to promise that you won't get injured training with me, but I'll do everything I can to minimise the risk. If the worst does happen, we can provide you discounted rates with our physiotherapy partners to get you back training as soon as possible.

 

LIVE INDOOR CYCLING AND STRENGTH SESSIONS

 

Join us for our live and on demand turbo training and strength sessions worth £40PCM, but free with your bespoke coaching programme. We ride early morning (UK time), injecting camaraderie, community and a bit of fun into your turbo training. If you can't make the session live, it will be available on demand.

Move beyond grinding out long sessions alone or riding simply to boost your FTP. As well as developing your threshold and VO2 max, we also teach you terrain management, riding technique, gearing and how to ride more efficiently. If you live in an area without hills or where it's unsafe to ride outside, these sessions will help you prepare for the challenges of race day from your turbo trainer.

Triathlon is the most confusing sport on the planet bar none. Not only do you have to learn everything there is to know about swimming, cycling and running, you also have to learn about strength and nutrition, not to mention the logistical nightmare that is racing. The journey from wannabe triathlete to Ironman finisher is an incredibly steep learning curve.  Learning how to ride on the road, teaching yourself to swim freestyle in open water and understanding the principles of nutrition are all essential to success.

Rather than spend hours trawling YouTube for answers or getting advice from influencers paid to push a certain product, my education hub is a source of information from a trusted source. While it is (and will always be) a work in progress as there is so much to cover, it will give you a huge headstart on the competition. You will gain access to the platform as soon as you start with me, and after four months of working with me, will be promoted to lifetime access, so you can still enjoy access when we part ways.

PRICING

My monthly coached plan is the most popular of my coached programmes, and is priced at £120 per calendar month.

This is more expensive than a training plan, but packs a lot more value. Where a training plan is rigid and simply focuses on improving your fitness, coaching will make you a faster athlete.

I appreciate £120 a month isn't pocket change, but let's compare it to other common triathlon expenses

Where a fancy wetsuit and disc wheel might save a few minutes off of your race time, and a triathlon bike might be worth 15 minutes over an Ironman, my coaching has routinely helped people shave HOURS off of their Ironman PB, in some cases even earning them a spot at the world championships.
